ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATOR, MEDIA PRESENTER, SPEAKER & AUTHOR

Sophie love affair with the environment and organic gardening stems from growing up in the family nursery in the Adelaide Hills.

As a popular national multimedia personality, TEDx presenter, and bestselling author, she delights in connecting with people as she feels our future, and the planet’s future, depends on all of us pulling together to do the right thing.

Sophie is passionate about the role gardening can play in people’s lives to improve both their mental and physical wellbeing and relishes her opportunities to address these issues through her work. Recent natural disasters such as floods, the pandemic, bushfires and drought have seen her guidance in educating and helping people re-establish new gardens whilst re-addressing the issues of food security and community.

Sophie is currently working with flood affected communities in South Australia and Victoria and continues to support the bushfire affected community on Kangaroo Island.

Recent recognition of her work includes the SA Inspirational Woman of the Year 2024 and being selected for the SA Women’s Honour Roll in 2023. She also constructs an annual themed garden display at the Royal Adelaide Show which highlights her strong environmental concerns, as well as travelling around Australia focusing on increasing public awareness of the importance of gardening for its physical and mental health benefits.

Sophie is on the Board of the Adelaide Botanical Gardens and Herbarium. She is also an ambassador, patron, and board member of many organisations including the Friends of the Waite Arboreteum, Succulent Society of SA and Treenet.

Kim Syrus wears many media hats!

He has been the Executive Producer, Producer and Presenter on South Australia’s ‘Outdoors Indoors’ (7 series) and ‘In the Garden’ (10 series). A presenter of 10 years on the national television program ‘The Garden Gurus’ and spent many years visiting iconic gardens and a broad range of world landscapes as a presenter on the award-winning travel program – ‘Explore’.

Kim is also the chief garden writer for SALIFE and SALIFE Gardens & Outdoor Living magazines.

A qualified horticulturist, Kim is the Managing Director of Corporate Roses. Along with being one of Australia’s most respected rose experts, he is the Australian Agent for France based, Meilland International, long regarded as one of the most influential rose breeders.

Kim was recently awarded a Churchill Fellowship.
